FAQs
Who is MC² Wealth Management?
We assist individuals who have received settlements or verdicts and provide specialized services for attorneys working in the personal injury sector. Our advisors have over ten years of experience in investment management and financial planning, tailoring strategies to meet the unique needs of our clients.
What makes MC² Wealth Management different from other investment firms?
MC² Wealth Management helps clients navigate significant financial changes, particularly those who have received funds from personal injury settlements or court decisions. We understand that this can be a complex and emotional time, which is why we prioritize our clients and focus on financial education.
We take the time to explain your options thoroughly, ensuring you understand your choices and feel confident about your financial future.
How does MC² help clients ease financial uncertainty and confusion?
We understand that receiving a large sum of money unexpectedly can feel overwhelming. That’s why we provide a simple, step-by-step guide to help you open an account. We believe in a thoughtful and deliberate approach to investing, prioritizing education, and empowerment.
Our goal is not just to manage your money but to equip you with the knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions. By helping you understand your investments, we aim to ease any concerns and give you confidence in your financial future.
What kind of support can I expect from my advisor?
At MC², we prioritize building strong, lasting relationships with our clients. Your advisor will always be available to answer your questions—whether they relate to market updates, major financial decisions, or simply checking in on your progress.
Even if you don’t reach out often, your advisor will provide quarterly updates on your account and schedule an annual review, either in person or online, to assess your plan and make any necessary adjustments. Additionally, we take a proactive approach, reaching out during periods of market volatility to address any concerns and provide guidance.
Does MC² offer specialized investment solutions?
Yes. Through our partnership with Bison Wealth, we offer investment options designed for people who have received personal injury settlements, athletes, attorneys, individuals with special needs and their families, and families who have lost a provider. These plans are flexible and tailored to meet each client’s unique financial needs.
Even if you don’t fit into these groups, we can still create a personalized plan to help protect your money and secure your future.
How does MC² Wealth Management invest my money?
At MC² Wealth Management, we mainly use exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds—collections of stocks and bonds that help create a diversified portfolio. While we focus on maintaining a mix of investments, we may also include individual stocks and bonds when they align with your financial goals.
Our investment strategy is built around three key portfolio “sleeves”:
- Protect – This sleeve is about keeping your initial investment protected while also seeking some return. The main goal for this sleeve is stability.
- Income – This sleeve is designed to help you earn money regularly for your everyday expenses so you can have cash available when you need it.
- Growth – This sleeve aims to build long-term wealth to support your future financial goals.
By spreading your investments across these three areas, we create a balanced plan that aligns with your risk tolerance, your need for cash, and your long-term financial wishes.
How do you handle requests for withdrawals or wire transfers?
We know that unexpected things can happen, so we work quickly to get cash to your checking account when you need it.
If you ask for money through direct deposit before 12 PM Eastern time, we will process it the same day. Usually, the money will be available in 1 to 3 business days, depending on your bank.
We can also send money through wire transfer if needed. If you request a wire transfer before 12 PM Eastern, we will process it the same day as long as you sign a digital authorization before 4 PM Eastern.
We do our best to follow these timelines to ensure fast and reliable service.
Is my money safe with MC² Wealth Management?
At MC² Wealth Management, taking care of your money is very important to us. Our advisors have a duty to act in your best interest, meaning we always provide guidance that aligns with your financial well-being. While all investments carry some risk, we carefully assess an appropriate level of risk to help you reach your financial goals and always communicate those risks clearly.
We also take strong security measures to keep your funds safe:
Money Movement Protocols – After you add money to your account, you cannot take any money out or send it anywhere except to your own checking or savings account unless you give clear permission. The only case when this is different is if your money is in a trust with a chosen trustee.
Safe Custody – MC² does not hold your money directly. Instead, your money is held by Fidelity or Charles Schwab, which are two well-known and trusted financial companies that are very carefully regulated.
We are committed to managing your money with integrity, security, and transparency.
Who do you work with, and is there a minimum investment requirement?
We serve settlement recipients, attorneys, law firms, athletes, entertainers, and high-net-worth individuals and families. Our focus is on guiding clients through financial transitions and building long-term wealth strategies. While we do have minimum investment requirements, we assess each client’s needs individually to determine the best approach.
How is MC² Wealth Management compensated?
We charge a yearly management fee, which is automatically deducted from your account. This fee is divided into monthly payments, so you’ll see a portion of it on your monthly statements. The full details of your specific fee are included in the documents you sign when opening your account.
We do not earn extra money from the stocks or bonds we recommend for your investments. If you’re considering other investment firms, it’s a good idea to ask if they earn commissions on their recommendations as some may not be required to disclose this information.
MC² Wealth Management’s Standard Fee Schedule:
- Under $1,000,000: 1.25% of invested assets
- $1,000,000 – $4,999,999: 1.00% of invested assets
- $5,000,000 – $9,999,999: 0.75% of invested assets
- Over $10,000,000: Negotiated
Additionally, no fees are charged on annuities held as an asset class.
Are there any additional fees I should be aware of?
Yes. At MC² Wealth Management, we believe in full transparency regarding any fees or costs, including those that may not appear directly on your account statements.
Here are a few additional fees to keep in mind:
- Wire Transfer Fees: If you need to wire money from your account, there is typically a $25 charge, which is automatically deducted when the transfer is processed.
- Mutual Fund & ETF Expenses: All mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have internal expense ratios that cover the costs of professional management and security selection. These fees do not appear on your account statements but will be disclosed in the prospectus we provide before you invest.
Our goal is to ensure you fully understand any costs associated with your investments, allowing you to confidently make informed financial decisions.
What if I change my mind or no longer want to use your services?
Your advisory agreement with MC² Wealth Management is not a permanent commitment. While we strive to build lifelong client relationships, you have full control over your decision to continue or discontinue our services at any time.
The only exception applies if your assets are held in a trust with a third-party trustee. In this case, either the trustee or the trust protector has the authority to remove or replace us as your advisor.
Our goal is to ensure you feel confident and supported in your financial journey, whether you choose to continue working with us or explore other options.
How can I evaluate my portfolio’s performance compared to others?
Each exchange-traded fund (ETF) or mutual fund in your portfolio is measured against benchmarks, which serve as performance standards for comparison. We use two primary benchmarks:
- Standard Index – A broad market measurement, typically including:
- S&P 500 – Tracks the top 500 U.S. stocks.
- Bloomberg U.S. Aggregate Bond Index – Represents the entire U.S. investment-grade bond market.
- MSCI All Country World Index – Tracks 3,000 stocks across 47 countries.
- Category Index – A narrower benchmark that compares performance against similar types of investments.
During your yearly investment review, we will look at how your portfolio compares to these benchmarks. Ideally, your investments should perform better than the category benchmark after accounting for fees. However, some protected investments may underperform in a strong market but provide better stability when the market declines. We will explain these factors in detail when reviewing your portfolio.
If certain funds are not meeting expectations, we will evaluate whether changes are needed. Some decisions take careful consideration—for example, a fund that underperforms in one year may still outperform its benchmark over time. Our team will analyze the data and provide guidance based on long-term trends and current market conditions.
Do you offer currency trading (crypto, foreign exchange), commodity trading (agriculture, metals), or short-selling stocks?
The short answer is: it depends. These investments are complicated and can be very risky. Our primary focus is on protecting your money, generating income, and achieving steady, long-term growth—strategies that support financial security and stability.
However, if you are interested in speculative investments, we can connect you with experts in those areas to help explain the opportunities and risks. From there, we will work with you to determine whether including these higher-risk investments aligns with your overall financial plan.
